2005 Acrylic on board
These pictures are part of a series entitled “Something Has Happened”
It is a fairytale, a story about the secrets and shame that women carry, especially in repressive times or cultures, where not only are women, especially young girls, vulnerable to men, but are also at the mercy of the senior women in their communities. Women are just as guilty of keeping other women, including, shamefully, their own daughters, down because of jealousy, fear, tradition, ignorance or economic gain.
In a world where the Great Goddess is denied, where girls are aborted because they are deemed to have no value… who can expect more?
The most obvious fact of life,
Woman gives birth, Woman is the Great Creatrix.
Woman, Restore the Goddess to Her glory in our hearts. If you don’t, who will?
Mothers,
Be better mothers to your daughters.

These are part of an ongoing nonofficial Star Wars fan project I’m enjoying making. As a child I lived and breathed Star Wars. It’s still a massively exciting and influencial part of my life, espcially because it introduced me to the work of Joseph Campbell, the wonderful Mythologist who wrote The Hero With a Thousand Faces.
In October 2007 I did a talk in conjunction with this work including ideas about Tarot Symbolism in Star Wars at the JCF Mythological RoundTable of New York.
